Presentation of the network

Short Circuit is a non-profit organization, governed by the French law of 1901. It was created by 12 different structures, representing 11 European countries.

Short Circuit upholds the short film as a cinematographic work in its own right, and intends to represent the European short film in all its forms (fiction, animation, documentary, experimental and video art) and lengths, irrespective of the distribution means (theatres, festivals, television, internet, etc.).

Short Circuit also works from the point of view of territorial cultural development, both geographical and virtual, and seeks to develop business and legal models that protect the rights holders, the works and their value.

The association’s aims will be the networking of European organizations that work for the distribution and promotion of European short films. A principal objective will be to improve the circulation of European films in Europe as well as their promotion and distribution both in Europe and internationally.
